So sorry my contactability sucks :(

Ciao my American friends.

Well, Tricia and I are just waking up but I have the time to write this real quick.

So what’s new in my life?

Monday night I went and met Tricia at the train station and we quickly went to bed cause we were both so exhausted.

Yesterday, I woke up and went to my accounting class. FINALLY that class ended and I came home to wake Tricia up. Then she got ready and I took her to try my sandwich place, which she absolutely loved. I mean how couldn’t she? Haha! And then I came back and did Spartacus workout so she could get on the internet for a little bit.

I have been talking up the market and dried fruit so much and she has been so excited for it! So we went to the market and my banana guy and carrot guy were both ready to give me my normal amount! Haha! And then Tricia got to be amazed at the site of all the dried fruits and picked out which ones she wanted! She got some of the dried strawberries. I have been wanting to get those and they are so good! She now understands why I obsess over this stuff and why it’s so addicting, esp. the banana chips!! I got a whole bag of kiwi and melon and of course ate the rest of it this morning!!

So then we came home and I had to get ready for my baking class, but I took Tricia up to the balcony so she could see all of Florence before I left!!

So then I went to baking and I was so sad because my lab partner Valerie wasn’t there! Reminded me of the days when I would text Stacey from food prep and be like where the heck are ya! I had told Tricia before I left I will try and not eat so much so we could go to Gusta’s and gelato! FAIL. We made my absolute favorite thing possible—upside down apple cake and upside down pear cake pretty much and then also cream puffs, which we made into croc en buche classic and also with caramelized sugar! It was so pretty! For the apple and pear cakes, we coated little cheesecake pans with sugar and soaked the pears with sugar, butter, and vanilla and soaked the apples with honey, butter, and sugar! Those were good on their own! It was so nice to see cheesecake pans : ) !! I miss those. And then we had this shortbread type dough we put on top of the apples and pears! I got to make those and I was so happy! We also made the vanilla gelato we didn’t get to have last week, which was so good! Once they came out of the oven, we immediately took them out of the pans and then put them on the plate. We poured the chocolate mix on top of the pear cakes and put this lemon cream mix on top of the apple cakes. Then we put a scoop of hazelnut gelato (which totally tasted like cappuccino) on top of the apple cakes and the vanilla gelato on top of the pear cakes. They were so delicious and I will DEF. be making those when I get home for sure! They were pretty easy, the only work that comes from them is cutting up all the fruit, but it’s totally worth it! For the cream puffs, it was so funny! The time Stacey and I made those in food prep it was like a total fail! Somehow they tasted like scrambled eggs! But these were made correctly; of course I only tried the dough because I hate creamy stuff! We made really large cream puffs and then small ones. Chef coated some of them in melted chocolate and made them into the classic tower with whipped cream around them. Then for the other ones, he melted sugar and coated the top of the cream puffs in the sugar and made those into a tower and put it on top of the rest of our shortbread mix. Then he also made little caramelized sugar decorations for the top. The one he rolled up looked so cool! Definitely a great baking class, but totally wish Val would have been there to help and stop me from eating so much! Haha

Then I came home after baking and Tricia and I got ready to meet Sam and her friends at Gusta’s! I have been talking up Gusta’s so much, so of course Trish was excited for that too! The last time I was there, they had the special of ricotta, mozzarella, and spinach, but I didn’t get it because I wanted the margarita (tomato sauce and mozzarella and basil) pizza instead. However, they had it on special last night so Trish and I decided to split that and it was SO beyond delicious! I will get it every time they have it on special now! Then I took Trish to my favorite gelato place and she tried my trusty cheesecake gelato with the strawberry gelato! She loved it of course!! Then we came home and got ready to meet up again with Sam and her friends and Amy to go out to this bar near Amy’s apartment. We all had a lot of fun! It was so weird going out with Trish again cause I felt like we were back at school but no, we’re in Florence!! Ahh!

So then this morning, we woke up finally and walked to go see my friend Val’s bakery she works at and to go get some groceries! Then I had to go to my Italian class and then Trish and I went and worked out real quick. Then I had to go meet with my group really quick for one of my classes. Then Trish and I came home and got ready and went souvenir shopping for her and then I took her to see Piazza de Republica and she helped me pick out……………MY EXPRESSO MAKER!! Yes sir’ry—my souvenir I wanted to buy myself is one I found when Nikki and I went shopping. It’s orange and of course it was like calling my name! It is made in Italy too : )! Plus, for only 1 euro more I got the box set! It came with 2 expresso cups and plates too match! It is so cute and I can’t wait to use it at home! It will go well with my future kitchen that will have all orange appliances and white everything else. Kitchen-Aid is already orange, so that’s good!

Then we went to the Mexican place we always go to for margaritas! We both got the peach margaritas cause personally I think they are the best and we also got chips and salsa (doesn’t near compare to Qdoba chips!) and the chicken and sausage quesadillas!! PROTEIN! It was all so good!

So now we are sitting here for a bit before we go out again tonight! It is my weekend : )!!

Portofino is Friday and I def. have to lay out again. The sunburn from hell is finally going away but I clearly need to fix this headband tan of mine!

So.. What else is new..

I need to add this in here, as I did so with my facebook status today! I sincerely apologize for my lack of contact with America the past few weeks. Between Dublin, Sicily, and my seriously horrible internet and lack of internet situation and no phone ability, my contact with the states has stunk and I know it! I feel bad but hopefully by the weekend my internet will work enough to skype again, call, and text people! I love you all and miss you all dearly, I may not be ready to come home yet but don’t think I hate you!!!!!

SOOOOOO.. anyways. Hope you are all having a great week! I certainly have been! I love having Trish here because it’s like we’re back at school again, except in Florence this time!

And a special congrats in this blog to Stacey (best food prep lab partner ever!!) who just got accepted for the fall semester to come and live the life I have been living! I am so jealous already and will creep on her facebook for updates frequently as I will want to be back here all the time when I come home!!

Anyways.. gotta go for now!! Ciao my friends!

Love and miss!
