NOTE-- this is from FRIDAY ONLY i will update for Saturday and Sunday events later tonight!!
Well hello everyone, greetings from good ol' Ireland : ) !! I'm updating this only cause we're on a long bus ride back to dublin and there is wifi on the bus :)
First of all I am never leaving Ireland. Gahhhh it is so pretty and I'm obsessed.
Okay so what's the latest..
Well thursday was like a day from hell. Traveled 12 hours pretty much, but it was all to get to Galway, Ireland. Allowable. So I left at 3 on the train to Milan, about a 1 hour 45 min trip. Had a 5 pm bus ticket to get to the airport. So I had 15 min to find the buses, had to ask like 3 dif. People where to go because the train station was SO big. Then I made it to the bus and got to the airport around 630 and checked in. Only the 6th technical time I've flown, went pretty easily. RyanAir wasn't as bad as people make them to be, but apparently you have to catch them on their good days, which I probs did. Haha. But then I waited and was standing in line at the gate and wasn't sure if I was in the right line and I asked the nice couple behind me if I was. I was thankfully and we ended up conversing for a bit, then rode the bus together, and sat by eachother on the plane. Whenever you fly RyanAir there is no assigned seats so you just charge for the plane
when you get off the bus to get to the plane. But luckily we were in the front and I ended up sitting by them. Irish people are so nice. They were both so helpful and told me a few places to go to. We also ended up conversing with the flight attendent who told me places to go too. I told them my family's name was Murphy and they were like no way! And then of course I was like do you know any Hogans? Haha both popular names! Ann and David were both from Dublin, so they were on their way home from I think a lake near Milan. We discussed everything from bars, to food, to sights, etc. They asked my name and I was like Shelley. And they were like short for Michelle? And I laughed and was like yes! And they were like we have a daughter named Michelle! And I was like good choice! Haha so the flight took over an hour or so, with a 1 hour loss of time.. So we got in about 10 and Ann and David told me how to get to the bus stop and Kate also called me and so I
made it to the bus stop. I was then told to go a dif. Way by the workers and Ann and David found me and brought me back to the right place! I was like you guys are awesome! haha! I was waiting with a girl that was Sweedish.. Her accent was so cool. We met another guy who was looking for a bus that was leaving at 1145 and I had just found out the bus Kate told me to take didn't leave till 1215 so I ended up taking the other bus to get to Galway. I slept basically the entire trip and got into the Galway bus stop at about 230ish and then had to take a taxi from the bus stop to the apartment of one of Kate's friends who is studying in Galway. Luckily the taxi drivers are so nice in Ireland!! Overall, the trip getting there was never really a problem, I was just exhausted. Kate and her friends had just gotten back from the club cause they knew I should be there around that time so we all got ready and went to bed. Even though I was so tired, it was kind of
hard to fall asleep but I finally did thankfully!!
Woke up at 6 and showered and passed out again and we all woke back up at 9 and got ready to get on the bus at 945.
Kate's friend had found this tour bus that takes you around Galway for literally 8 hours or so and takes you like everywhere! So we all got on the bus and stopped at a few different places. It was so funny cause we figured out all the places we were gonna see and Hogan (who studied in Dublin over the summer) had just texted me cause she must have seen the Galway factor and was like make sure you see the cliffs of moher if you can! Everyone was saying we'd see the cliffs and I was like of Moher? And they were like ya!! And I was like sweet cause Hogan had said they're an awesome sight! We could have taken a walking tour or a cave tour but we chose not to cause they cost and we'd rather walk around and plus get food cause we were starving. So we found this little cafe near the cave stop and I got a blueberry muffin :) gahh I miss those!! They also had capri suns and I was like America!! I am with Kate who I know from MSU and then 6 of her friends. 1 of
them is studying in Rome, who we definitely had to chat about everything we love and hate about Italy! Haha! We totally understood each other cause it's so hard to explain to anyone who doesn't live in Italy. I gave her props for being able to study in Rome cause I never could! Way too big and everyone knows my sense of direction! Haha.. And then the 1 was studying in Galway and then the other 4 are studying in London. They're all super super nice and fun and the day was so much fun with them!
Then after the caves we stopped at a few "photo points" before the cliffs! For some reason our bus driver was like obsessed with these bunnies that he always saw in this patch of grass and we stopped to try and find them on the way and the way back. That's where the title of this came from cause I kept thinking silly wabbit trix are for kids! Haha but then we stopped at the cliffs and took many photos! They were breathtaking! The weather was so cold and windy though, luckily the rain kept seeiming to pass us. Hogan was right, the cliffs were so cool! I got a lot of photos but probs could have taken more had it been sunny. But then we stopped in town to get lunch around 3. Then we made a few other photo stops kind of passed the cliffs and ended up going towards these other cliffs. Our driver said not to go near the edges cause the tide was high and would pull us in, so I just got as close as a I could and got some nice photos! Then we stopped at one of
the castles to take photos too. We all are still trying to figure out why they're called castles in Galway. There are a few we saw and they are not big at all! But they are pretty! Then we drove back to the bus stop and Kate's friend walked us around and then showed us her campus. I literally was like let's play some quittich when we were standing in the square cause it literally reminded me of the courtyard in Harry Potter. So many things in Ireland have made me be like Harry Potter...... Haha!
Its so funny cause I looked at all the girls and was like I feel so Americanized right now. Where I go to school, the buildings are in 4 different places and aren't their own buildings. They're connected to everywhere else. Her school was like a regular American school, as to mine isn't really close to what I am used to. Plus they had like a little student union like MSU, which I don't have anything like that in Florence! Haha
So then we walked around a bit and went to the grocery store cause we were going to make dinner.. Omg. On the bus they were like we can make chicken parm and spaghetti. Kasie, deanne, tricia- you 3 so know if chicken parm is said, I'm there in 2 seconds. I was like you're not serious and they were like we can so I was all ready but it was kind of late so instead Kate's friend was like we can make sweet and sour chicken and rice, kung po too. That said, I was like HELL yes! Gahh I miss chinese food like no other. I was texting my dad the other day and I asked what he was doing and he was like therapy for my knee and then chinese, wish you were here to partake. Omg I was like you have no idea what I'd do right now for some China King crab rangoon!!!!!! Lol so we ended up making both those things and they were so good. I literally looked at everyone and was like this was one of the best meals I have had here. I know everyones thinking right now, shelley
you're in ITALY. Seriously people, I am a MEAT/protein obsessor. There is only so much pasta and pizza a girl can take. But trust me I know its freeking delicious! Haha I know also what a few others are thinking. I ate meat on a Friday during Lent. I know. Sorry but I don't really ever eat meat any other day so to me I was like ill pretend thursday was friday and I didn't eat meat Thursday so meat today, allowable. Well after an amazing dinner we all sat around and decided we didn't really wanna go out cause it was cold and rainy. Kate's friend who lived there and her roommates were having people over before they went out cause their semester is almost up and are going home soon for summer, so it was their last night out really. So we all just hung out with them for a bit before going to bed. We were all pretty exhausted from not sleeping much the night before, plus we all wanted to save up for going out in DUBLIN tonight : ) !! So we all caught up with
our facebooks the best we could and then went to bed after a bit.
This morning, I woke up and got ready and went back to bed and we all woke up again at 8 so we could catch the 915 bus back to Dublin's airport.
We had gotten food from the grocery store the night before and I was so excited to eat my cinnamon raisin bagel : ). Reminded me of bread co!
Now we are on the bus going back to the airport and are gonna catch a taxi to our hostel and hopefully meet up with Tricia and her friends from London soon after. I'm so excited to see her. I will cry undoubtedly! We are planning to go tour the guiness factory and other places today and hit up some of the bars Hogan told me about tonight, I am super excited. I wish I liked beer, but I did try Kopperburg berry cider last night and it was about the same thing to wine for me.. Haha I will try and drink a guiness today at the factory but I can't promise anything!! I hate beer with a passion, but I know the Murphy clan would be disappointed in me not at least trying it, so I will just for them!! Haha
Well that's the Friday update, I knew I wouldn't regret writing this cause it's just this much less to write on Monday. I basically am gonna have just as late of a night tomorrow night like I did Thursday night, but with a 9am class I can't skip. JOY! Early night for Shelley on Monday
In other news, so funny cause when we were eating at the cave one of the girls was like you can cook for us too when we were discussing what we wanted to do for dinner, cook in or eat out? And all the girls started talking about my photos on facebook and I'm like I know, it takes people usually about 5 minutes for them to realize what my major is either talking to me or strictly from facebook. Haha! Everyone knows half my photos are probs. Of food! Haha
Also, Kate and I think 4 of her friends are coming to Florence at the end of April and I'm so excited cause I said we should def. Meet up and I can bring you guys to the best pizza or pasta in Flo and the best gelato or of course my nutella crepes! As well as the sights and clubs too! Haha it should be a lot of fun!
Tricia comes to visit the week after Sicily and I'm super excited to show her around, it will just stink cause I have to go to class the first 3 days she's here, but it will be okayy!
This is lengthy I know, but when has anyone known me to condense my stories or summarize them! Hehe
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Dublin is supposed to be sunny today so I have my favorite sunglasses and hopefully it will be warmer and less windy than Galway so I can get plenty of photos : ) !!
Love and miss!
